On days when the sun shines, I watch the sun rise from the dining room table. We really should clean the door one day, but the light is much more interesting through the grit and grime that accumulates there.

A Camera I Almost Forgot
Some time ago, I was cleaning out my office desk and stumbled across a camera I knew I had but had mostly forgotten about, and thought it would be a perfect addition to the fleet of cameras I’ll be using for SnapShots. It’s a remarkably good little camera, especially given it’s nearly twenty years old.
While the on-paper specs aren’t brilliant by today’s standards, the camera is still capable of deliving nice JPEG pictures. A 9MP CCD sensor is plenty, especially given the small sensor size, and the image-stabilized 10X optical zoom lens (36-360mm equivalence) is pretty sharp. For those interested, all the specs can be found at Canon’s online camera museum.
One aspect of the camera that I really like is that it’s primary power source is common AA batteries. Its internal clock battery is a relatively easy-to-find watch battery. This may not seem all that important, but most cameras now use specially designed batteries, and for older cameras, they can be hard to find and expensive.

Eastern Shore Farmhouse On A Rainy Saturday Morning
This picture was taken with the Instax Mini EVO while driving by in the rain — there was no traffic ahead or behind and I stopped, so it was a safe shot! Had the wrong settings on the camera though, so touched it up a bit in Apple Photos on the MacBook Pro.
I also tried a couple of “direct prints” of the edited image using the app on my phone, one using the “rich” mode, and the other using the “natural” mode. As I expected, the printed versions aren’t as “good” as the the one that was edited directly off the SD card, but the printed versions have their own charm.
